Canine Obedience Training View Class Schedule All levels are offered to any dog that is at least 16 weeks old and each level contains a six week curriculum. Dogs must be current on vaccinations, in good health, and examined regularly by a veterinarian. After the completion of each level, your dog will graduate and receive their own diploma. In the group training program, class size is restricted so that more individual attention can be given and as a result, progress generally occurs quickly. The levels offered are as follows: Family Dog This class will teach your dog the building blocks to becoming a reliable companion that walks well on a leash and comes when called. The following commands are taught in the beginning level: Sit Settle Keeping your dog's attention Release word Heel with automatic sit Heel with about turns Heel with corners Heel in serpentines Heel in figure eights Heel with changing pace Stand Sit-stay Down Down-stay Recall Included in the beginning level of obedience is training for house manners and social skills. Handling and health issues such as teeth brushing, ear cleaning, and nail trimming are also taught in the beginning level. Advanced Family Dog This class is a continuation of the beginning level. It emphasizes longer duration of the commands and more focused attention on the handler from the dog. Your dog will begin off-leash work in this level and some formal commands are introduced as well.
